This perspective will have to undergird VP Kamala Harris and Gov. Walz’s personal and professional lives. We as a country are entrapped in a political warfare that has been reflecting the spiritual warfare that is upheaving the world. We have a lot to do to revive the principles and values that our country needs in order to have a “more Perfect union”. I like that we have founded our Democracy on the reality that it is a “work in progress”. There is no way in our human reality that we can be perfect or do anything in perfection. But the beauty of being in our human condition is the innate urge we have to “seek perfection”! There is so many aspects of creating and sustaining a governmental platform that allows people to exercise their free will and determinism, but it requires we have a “collective agreement that we will abide by the principles and practices of our country’s Constitution that has created our democracy. We stand to lose a lot in terms of life as we know it if we do not rise up and get the vote out BLUE up and down the ballot, otherwise we are in big trouble.
We have got to seriously start teaching our children from an early age what rights our Constitution guarantees them and how valuable and important it is to sustain these principles that secure our democracy. We need to teach our children that their walk in life is tied to the gift of living in a Democratic country. We must teach them that they have a responsibility as adults to participate and engage in the political arena so that their freedom will never be stripped from them. We must teach them to think critically and work diligently in deciphering truth from lies and manipulation. This world has evolved to a stage of development in technology that has massive power. It can be used for good, and it can be used for evil. Our children will be growing up in a world that we are not prepared for, and we have not done our due diligence to put in place laws and safeguards to protect our children and our humanity!
This is an issue that I want to put on the hearts and minds of our candidates- Kamal and Tim- so that when they get in office it will be a priority to act on in terms of laws and legislation as well as working in concert with “Big Tech” and AI creators to build in safeguards on anything they create! We cannot afford to live in a state of hindsight!
