“Children have the right to be accepted as unique individuals with special gifts to contribute to society.“
Ok now! This is an important principle in this Covenant! Each child comes to this world as a complete package. The part of the package I am most concerned about is their soul expression.
Why you ask? Because it is the soul that carries the essence of a child. It is the soul that carries the gifts that a child has to express. It is the soul that holds the essence of what defines the uniqueness and divine identity of a child. It is the exploration and discovery of this essence that keeps us constantly amazed and always wanting for more of getting to know them and to be part of their life. We need to invest ourselves in this process of observation and exploration of our children. It is a serious part of being a parent, teacher, coach, well actually anyone that is in relationship with a child needs to participate in doing this if we are serious about relating to a child from their real “divine personage”.
We have to be unbiased without pre-conceived ideas and opinions of what we will discover. Who they are is like a great mystery that is constantly unfolding as they move through life. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of that journey. I always feel alive and vibrant when I am in their presence or engaged with them. Watching their personalities unfold and having a chance to nurture their little budding expressions, is not only exciting, but has given me some insight on who I am as well. Children operate differently than we do. They don’t have the same hang ups about showing who they are, what they want, and what they need from us. They love being themselves. They love giving what they have to offer others. They don’t hold back and give of themselves what they think we want from them unless we conditioned them to think that way. They are free agents being totally who they are in the moment. If we recognize that and take our clues from them, then we will begin to understand that we too, were once free agents exploring all our potential and possibilities. Oh, to be able to promote that energic field force that moves them into action, and perhaps even reignite it in ourselves. It would be like getting a second chance in life! What a gift they have to offer, and it is done unconsciously and unconditionally!
Children know on a spiritual vibration initially, that they have a life filled with purpose. They don’t of course, have the ability to verbally articulate what that is, but they do have ways to show us what those gifts are. They are constantly discovering things about themselves. They are constantly trying to refine and embrace the things they find out about themselves. They begin to evaluate what does and does not resonate with them- “what they like and don’t’ like about people, places, and things. This is another lesson we can learn from them! Can you imagine if we gave ourselves the latitude to evaluate and act upon what we like and don’t like about the things and people in our life? What an authentic life we would be living. You see that’s what children are designed to live – “their best and authentic lives”! We all were designed to live that kind of life, and we have the “Charge” to try to create and nurture that kind of opportunity for our children! All children!! If we do this for them in their early years of development, they will stand a chance of living “their best life ever”.
We have a chance to create a world where children will feel safe and secure about being themselves and expressing their gifts. I guess you might say that I was so blessed to be an Early Childhood teacher in a classroom full of these little divine beings during the best years of my life. I had an opportunity to experience first-hand the amazing wonder and beauty of children. I was afforded the blessing of engaging with them and discovering how they operate in the world, from their perspective! I was allowed to step into their world of newness and excitement every day. They filled my soul with so much love and appreciation for life, that has lasted throughout my career. From Pre-school teaching to training teachers to be teachers, and parents to be parents. I would not trade my life’s journey for anything in the world. Let me suggest that you make the trip to the world of “Childhood”, you know that place that holds our secret thoughts and dreams. We still have the keys to open that door. We need to support them as they navigate their childhood so that it helps them manifest the desires of their hearts and puts their “God” given gifts into action.
