Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let There Be Peace on Earth
The peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With ev’ry step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
I can’t tell you how many times I have sung this song as a solo or in our church choir, but it touches my heart and soul. I know it is perhaps an old song, but it is ageless and priceless! The words are wise and appropriate to this day and what is called for in the time we are living right now! We as consciously awake human beings, know that war is never the answer. Aggression is barbaric, and should be categorized when afflicted on others, as “Crimes Against Humanity”! I know there are those of us in this world that are sensitive and concerned about calling humanity to a place of love, justice, peace, and compassion. It actually seems to one of my themes that I write about in context to other challenges we have in life as well.
There is a sense of urgency that is rising up in some of us like it did in other eras of society when we were confronted with engaging in war and destruction. We have seen and lived through war so many times, and it never ends well, even for those that appear to come out victorious. War leaves casualties of death and pain physically, emotionally. We really don’t need to settle our differences with aggression and greed. We really don’t need to go after things that belong to other people and bully them into submission. We don’t need to live our lives from a stance of “lack and limitation”, because if we do what we are supposed to do to preserve our plant and its resources, there is enough of everything from land, sea, air we breathe, food to nourish our bodies and any other resources we might need.
What is holding us back from being who we were divinely intended to be. We are missing the purpose of our existence. We have lost our memory of what we came to contribute and have slumped into amnesia of what our potential was to yield to humanity. We have to awaken to our essential selves and rise up and demand that we do better and be better. We are being called to be the world’s “Peace Makers”!
We are being called to stand up for “World Peace”!
Peace must be first realized in our own personage. It must be carried in our soul’s light so that it can reflect outward to the world.
We must talk peace!
We must be peace!
We must live peace!
