Bent up morn, till set of sun.
Cannot stand, cannot sit,
Cannot rest for a little bit!
Well, I guess this is a great opportunity to set aside a designated time to recognize the contributions that women have made and continue to make to enhance the human experience. We as women have made history in the shadows of where for the most part, we have never been recognized. I have throughout my life watched the ladies around my Mom, in my church, and in my social circles, do the most amazing things and accomplish the most outstanding feats that required them to always be more than their male counter parts.
They faced unsurmountable challenges with everything they attempted to do. It was, and still is, in many arenas a situation where we have to deal with biases, preconceived ideas of what a woman should and should not do, and tactics to “Keep us in our place”! Even the term-women’s suffrage, sounds like we had to suffer in order to be acknowledged. The root to this fear! Oh my, there it is again-FEAR-the root of everything that divides us. I feel it is so important for history to reveal who we as women are, what we have contributed, and have the potential to contribute now and in the future.
It is important for our young women, youth, and girls to know they have role models and that there is nothing that they cannot accomplish if they set an intention to use their full divine potential and “Great Spirit” given gifts. I could create a list of women that have made their mark in history, but I am think about the women who I consider the “unsung heroes”! Women like our grandmothers, mothers, aunts, daughters, cousins, friends, and co-workers. Women who are not “famous”! Women who just do what they are needed to do at any given moment in a day. Women who rise to the occasion of whatever might come up that calls them into action!
It is a moment by moment “Call to action”! We cannot hesitate or be in any way indecisive! We don’t have time to give anything a second thought! It is just do it!! These are the women who don’t look for thanks or accolades! They are humble in spirit, because they do what they do because it is just “who they are”! We all play a part in this expression of greatness! We must continue to discover the elements of creativity, fortitude, and determination that will undergird our genius to be all that the universe expects us to be. We carry the essence of light that is to be used to encourage and support our children both girls and boys to be all of themselves and to strive for their “best life” and to utilize all their gifts! We as women are blessed to carry this light and we must work diligently to keep the flame of our light burning brightly throughout our life!
Ashe!
