Imparting or Exchanging Information- What makes for effective communication?
Talking with each other-
Talking at each other-
Talking to each other-
Talking to just ourselves cause no one is listening?
But never seeming to manage to communicate with each other consistently and meaningfully. Why is the art of communication such a difficult skill for humans to master? We start using our personal language in infancy with our parents that is to our parents a foreign language and for the most part, -not comprehensible, but adorable to them. On the other hand, “Spirit” understands every word of our infancy language. We become very expressive and animated in our baby language and gradually people around us respond to what we are communicating.
There is so much more involved in human communication than just being verbally expressive. Body language and facial expressions go hand in hand into what we transmit to the person or persons we are communicating with. There is so much going on at one time. We say something to someone and then we hope it is interpreted in the way we meant it. The choice of words we use, the context in which we use those words, the timing we chose to express ourselves, can make or break the line of communication.
One of the elements that we must be concerned about when communicating is whether or not we are actually listening to each other. This would involve us having to give each other our undivided attention. It means we actually want to listen to each other. It calls us to be “active listeners”. It calls us to value what the other person is trying to communicate with not “an already listening voice” -which is all wrapped up in judgement thinking we know what a person is going to say before they have a chance to express themselves. This hampers the ability of the speaker to express themselves fully and comfortably. I hate it when someone cuts my thoughts off because they think they know what I’m going to say! It can be so frustrating and can make the desire to communicate with that person the last thing you want to do.
We can get ourselves into situations where we are not able to get our thoughts and feelings understood. We miss the chance to say something special and important to a person that could change a relationship or the outcome a situation. We can get caught up in our emotions and our personal issues sometimes and hold ourselves back. Experiences can be a big part of how we communicate or don’t communicate.
Sometimes our egos even get in the way and trip us up from saying the things we need say. I never had a communications course until college. I think we need to include in our elementary through high school curriculum, communication classes. If we do this when children are young perhaps, we will see a shift in how we communicate with each other and maybe, just maybe, we can teach our children how to express themselves and feel empowered and confidant in what they have to say and share.
Can you imagine how more emotionally healthy we could be if we were able to effectively communicate our ideas, emotions, and responses when we are engaged in expressing ourselves. I guess part of this process of revitalizing our life and lifestyles is to deal with how we are communicating. So, check into your next conversation with someone and do a kind of out of body experience. Watch and listen in to evaluate if you are really communicating effectively.
Here we go! Let me know what you discovered!
P.S. I’m still in a little in Ritual Space! Communication with “Great Spirit” reveals a lot.
So, breathe deeply! Close your eyes and visualize something that brings you back into homeostasis with your soul expression. May today bring you a sense of peace, joy, and moments of feeling loved and validated for who you are and what you are gifting humanity.
Ashé! Have a Blessed Day!
**Note: These recordings are based on my blog writings, and all of this comes through Spirit. The recordings are a reflection of the writings and are not edited because I do not want to alter what is coming to me through “Great Spirit”. I am not seeking perfection, only serving as a vessel to bring love, peace, and joy, to our humanity.
Thank You, Jim Brickman for your beautiful music that vibrates through this recording. This is a selection from his album – “Music to Quiet Your Mind and Sooth Your World”.
