Sometimes there are bites and pieces of hymns that stay with me from my childhood. These are words that seem to resonate with my soul and give me peace and guidance. One such hymn refrain that I love is:
“Where He leads me, I will follow,
Where He leads me, I will follow,
Where He leads me, I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him, all the way”.
(Once I can do an audio with the blogs, I think it will be nice to actually sing some of these songs, and you can join in)
I believe that my destiny that charts the path of my life’s journey, is one I do not embark on alone. I have since childhood had a very personal and deep relationship with “God”- “Great Spirit”, that I have carved out with “Great Spirit” as the Captain of my soul. I feel that I am never really lost or out of touch with where I am or what is transpiring in my life, because I know that God is, “ordering my steps”. It is such a peace that surpasses all understanding. It does not mean that I don’t have human moments where I question myself and my confidence that God is at the helm. But I always seem to get in touch with that still quiet voice within me that gets me back on course. It is work! It is stepping out on faith with faith that helps us to let go and take that venture into the unknown. We want to avoid struggling with situations and decisions that just don’t fit and just don’t work. We have the power within us to stop and evaluate what we are doing and where we are going, so we don’t trip on our own ego or as my grandmother use to say “hardheadedness”.
There will be times that we don’t check in with our intuition and gut feelings about things and our steps can get side swiped into the wrong direction. Those are the times we need to use our inner navigation- God- Great Spirit- and re-order our steps. Sometimes we get off the path because there is a lesson to be learned or growth in our spiritual evolution that calls for the experience for a reason. In any case, when we are in a trust-based relationship with Great Spirit, we never go too far off the course, and when we do our “Captain”, takes the helm, and charts our course in the right direction.
Life is so exciting! Can you imagine yourself sailing on this huge ship with Spirit at the helm guiding you through gentle waves and at times turbulent tidal waves? You are holding on for dear life but somehow you are sailed to safety, rest, and peace. It’s quite a life we are engaged in! There is always something new and exciting to experience and to know that we are not alone on this adventure. Our lives have been designed with purpose and distinction, and this is an amazing gift with which to live our life in full expression. Take hold of all that you are! Let your steps be ordered and walk-through life fearlessly!
