Parenting Habits that Get on my Nerves!

Leilani takes being a mother of her three children very seriously.

A Parenting Habit that Get on My Nerves!

One of the things that really bothers me, is when a parent is crossing the street and is busy on their cell phone having a conversation and not even holding their child’s hand. I really want to jump out of my car and confront them, but instead I gently honk my horn just enough to get their attention but not frighten the child. I put an expression on my face that shouts, ” Hey! grab your child’s hands before they get killed by a car!!” We have to be present for our children! That is what it is to be a parent! It is not easy to be “on” all the time, but we have to be the “watch keepers” it’s our job! We have so little control over so much, we have to be awake and on call for the things we can be in control of. It is a lot of work and that’s why if you are going to be a parent you must realize that you are entering into a life time “Covenant” with your child.

Parenting Radio Show was a hit!

Thanks to all of my friends, family, and students, the experience on the Les Brown Talk Radio Show on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 was a hit!  I will never forget the feelings that ran through my mind and filled my body.  At first I was nervous! I thought that perhaps I would be on for about an hour.  I had a wonderful interview with the Producer, who I felt really “got me” and what I am trying to do for children and parents!  I will be forever grateful to Les Brown for his vote of confidence in me and the his willingness to support my “work”!  To my surprise they decide to have me on for the whole two hours.  As God would have it the first one to call in was my friend Isidra Lynn Person.  She put me to ease.  She actually did my press release and video for my first book signing!!  Kathi kept texting me words to remind me that “I could do this because it was in divine right order”.  Patty Schmolze was the most diligent in making sure she tuned in.  She had it on her computer and on the radio.  There was a power outage in her house so she got in her car and drove over to my old house on 9th Ave and listened to the broadcast.  Patty and Lei sat behind me and I could feel their energy. Oh and of course Lei had her camera and the flip camera recording everything.  I might mention that even though it was a radio show and no one could see me through the air waves, Lei had done my hair and makeup.  I was stunning in the booth.  So much so I was asked “who is your stylist?”  Some of you received my email with the announcement so let me tell you that Lei made the flyer and Kaci posted it for me on the blog!  Patty Galloway-Banday-my agent, sister, and promoter, kept me on task throughout the whole adventure.  I am so appreciative to all of you that tuned in!  I could feel your support.

What did I enjoy the most in the experience?  Talking to the listeners and sharing suggestions to help them resolve their problems.  In between the broadcasting the Producer took me out to the phone and had me respond to different callers who could not get on the air.  It felt so good to feel that I was finally doing my “work”.  After the show was over the Producer mentioned to Les Brown that this was a good show and that he wanted me to come back.  He called me their parenting specialist.  This is all like an out of body experience.  At times I could feel my parents looking over my shoulders saying, “you can do this-you must do this-they need you-step out on faith-we are here.”  I don’t know how all of this will play out but I am ready to step out on faith and be receptive of God’s help to do this “work”!  Please check out the invitation to the Seminar on July 6, 2011 at the Westside Pavilion at the Landmark Theatres Community Room B from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Next posting will include snap shots of the broadcast.

More movement on the horizons! And I will keep you posted!

Love!!

Beth
