And the Little Children Will Lead Them!

a96a2491-088f-4a43-bc16-1a5efa6ea65eAnd the Little Children Will Lead Them!

Out of the mouths of babes! I really don’t think adults realize just how traumatized children are with the loss of the Obama family in the White House to guide and protect us! My 4 year old (God) grandson- really my sister Patty’s grandchild but we share the family rights to him😊, has been very verbally concerned about the state of our governmental affairs. First of all, his social, emotional and cognitive maturity is off the charts!! Examples of statements he has made since President has left office:

“I don’t think he should leave us!”

“Can you please get President Obama’s phone number for me because I need to tell ( not ask) him to come back and take care of us! I might add that he has had a love affair with President Obama from the age of 2.

“President Obama is a good man because he knows Jesus and he needs to ask Jesus to talk to Trump because Trump is not listening to Jesus!”

There is so much more for me to share because the subject of Trump and Obama is part of his daily conversation.

Well yesterday while shopping in Target he spied the Essence magazine with Obama and Michelle’s picture on the cover. Oh my goodness you would have thought that he found a Ninja Turtle magazine( his next favorite characters) and he called out, “Look , look, look what I found!” It’s President Obama and Mrs. Obama!

I have to have this!! ” Well that night when he went to bed he sat up and went through every page with a comment for each page. Then when he finished the magazine from cover to cover he said, “This is the best book in the whole world and I am just going to put it under my pillow so the tooth fairy can read it to!” The he asked me if I thought the tooth fairy would come tonight and I had to to tell him “Not tonight Celio cause the tooth fairy only comes when we loose a tooth!” And he drifted off to sleep with the magazine under his pillow!” God bless our children Lord, and keep them safe! Please recreate this world into the divine place you intended it to be so that the fullness of love, joy and peace that you have endowed us with through the creation of children might infect this course of history and put you back in the drivers seat!!!

House Bill 610 – We Must Vote No!!!

Bill 610- All our children deserve a quality education balanced and equitable to their divine birth rights! The diversity of our public-school institutions breeds multi-cultural, different economic experiences and accountability not only for a quality education but a safe place for children to grow and develop. Parents and teachers just need more support in terms of curriculum that is age, content, and social relevancy so that the team-administrators/consultants/ teachers/ parents and students have a viable collaborative relationship in designing and implementing “hands on”, interactive, student-centered programs.

House Bill 610 has been introduced. This bill will effectively start the school voucher system to be used by children ages 5-17 and starts the defunding process of public schools. The bill will eliminate the Elementary and Education Act (ESSA) of 1965, which is the nation’s educational law and provides equal opportunity in education.  ESSA is a comprehensive program that covers programs for struggling learners, AP classes, ESL classes, classes for minorities such as Native Americans, Rural Education, Education for the Homeless, School Safety (Gun-Free schools), Monitoring and Compliance and Federal Accountability Programs. House Bill 610 would also abolish the Nutritional Act of 2012 (No Hungry Kids Act) which provides nutritional standards in school breakfast and lunch. For our most vulnerable, this may be the ONLY nutritious food they have in a day. The bill has no wording whatsoever protecting special needs kids, no mention of IDEA and FAPE.

Some things ESSA does for Children with Disabilities-Ensures access to the general education curriculum.-Ensures access to accommodations on assessments.-Ensures concepts of Universal Design for Learning-Includes provisions that require local education agencies to provide evidence-based interventions in schools with consistently underperforming subgroups.-Requires states in Title I plans to address how they will improve conditions for learning including reducing incidents of bullying and harassment in schools, overuse of discipline practices and reduce the use of aversive behavioral interventions (such as restraints and seclusion). Please call your representative and ask him/her to vote NO on House Bill 610 (HR 610).PLEASE copy and paste, don’t just share.

Teachers and Parents- Beware of Bullying! Teaching Children to Love and Respect Each Other-

It starts with being loved and respected by your parents.

Teachers and Parents-Beware of Bullying! Teaching Children to Love and Respect Each Other-

Teaching and Parenting: Bullying-What is our responsibility as teachers and parents?

This Early Childhood period of development is critical in so many areas of development! It is the only time in a child’s educational experience that there is a conscious and intentional decision to provide children with a curriculum that embraces teaching a child what it is to be a whole, healthy, happy socially and emotionally sound human being! We must teach compassion, empathy, inclusiveness, acceptance, love and generosity of spirit. We must teach cause and effect! We must teach responsibility for our actions. We must teach remorse for negatively impacting another person thru teaching empathy. We are as parents, teachers, and extended family and friends influencing and imprinting on the soul development of our children! Who do we hold a sacred space for them to show up as in their life as adults in this challenging world? Will they have the tools and character to be contributing members of society or are we setting them up for failure and pain because they are lost to us and their divine calling? We have work to do!

Children- What a mere after-thought? An evolving society that has not tapped into their “Soul Space”

Mothers and Fathers know that Children cannot be anyone’s “After Thought”.

Children- What a Mere After-Thought? An Evolving Society That has Not Tapped into Their “Soul Space”.

I am so disturbed to witness that adults can abuse children, be arrested and then allowed to make bail.  Did you see the news report about the twin toddlers that were abused by their Nanny?  Apparently the older sibling told his Mother that the nanny was being mean to them and so she set up a camera and recorded and witnessed the Nanny abusing her children.  This nanny was recommended by a very well know child care referral business.  It really goes beyond the usual criminal background check.  We have to have psychological background checks for all of those adults that are in service to children and youth.  When are we going to make children a priority?

When are we going to take a stand and demand that the care and education of our children must be a high priority to us as parents, educators, social workers, physicians, politicians, and all of us as a so-called “civilized society”.  Think of the things we have accomplished in terms of technology and yet and still we can’t evolve to a state of consciousness that promotes an earnest concern and action to care for our most valuable and precious resources “our children and youth”. We have to wake up before we as a civilization cease to function with any purpose or value. Our children are our opportunity if we invest in them and protect them, to actually fulfill our purpose – enriching the state of humanity.

“I Realize that I’ve Been Given the Gift to be Your Parent and as Your Parent I Realize this is a Life-Time Commitment!

It is just about loving and caring for each other unconditionally!

Quote:
Elizabeth Stone once said:
Making the decision to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

What do I mean when I say that my child is a gift in my life?

Let me start by defining the word “gift” in terms of the Webster’s Dictionary so that while we are engaged in this conversation we have the same understanding. According to the definition “gift” means: That which is given; a natural endowment.
Perhaps the most amazing perception of our relationship with our children is that we must see parenting as a being given a gift. It is not something to take lightly. It is absolutely a divine interaction on the part of “Great Spirit”. Sometimes we are very intentional in our desire to be parents and we make all kind of promises if we are blessed with a child. I can remember every conversation I had with God about my yearning to have the honor to bring life into this world. I prayed for the chance to be a mother. I prayed for the opportunity for my husband to have the experience of being a father. All of my life I felt that I was ordained to be a nurturer. My life’s purpose was engulfed in being with children so that I could make a difference in the quality of their lives. I promised God that if he gave me a child, I would give that child back to Him. This is a covenant that cannot be broken. Think about the gift you have been given or the gift you want to accept as a parent in “waiting”.

Parenting Habits that Get on my Nerves!

16041705-facd-4fc7-b843-bfc7dd09d6fd

Leilani takes being a mother of her three children very seriously.

A Parenting Habit that Get on My Nerves!

One of the things that really bothers me, is when a parent is crossing the street and is busy on their cell phone having a conversation and not even holding their child’s hand. I really want to jump out of my car and confront them, but instead I gently honk my horn just enough to get their attention but not frighten the child. I put an expression on my face that shouts, ” Hey! grab your child’s hands before they get killed by a car!!” We have to be present for our children! That is what it is to be a parent! It is not easy to be “on” all the time, but we have to be the “watch keepers” it’s our job! We have so little control over so much, we have to be awake and on call for the things we can be in control of. It is a lot of work and that’s why if you are going to be a parent you must realize that you are entering into a life time “Covenant” with your child.

Parenting Radio Show was a hit!

Thanks to all of my friends, family, and students, the experience on the Les Brown Talk Radio Show on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 was a hit!  I will never forget the feelings that ran through my mind and filled my body.  At first I was nervous! I thought that perhaps I would be on for about an hour.  I had a wonderful interview with the Producer, who I felt really “got me” and what I am trying to do for children and parents!  I will be forever grateful to Les Brown for his vote of confidence in me and the his willingness to support my “work”!  To my surprise they decide to have me on for the whole two hours.  As God would have it the first one to call in was my friend Isidra Lynn Person.  She put me to ease.  She actually did my press release and video for my first book signing!!  Kathi kept texting me words to remind me that “I could do this because it was in divine right order”.  Patty Schmolze was the most diligent in making sure she tuned in.  She had it on her computer and on the radio.  There was a power outage in her house so she got in her car and drove over to my old house on 9th Ave and listened to the broadcast.  Patty and Lei sat behind me and I could feel their energy. Oh and of course Lei had her camera and the flip camera recording everything.  I might mention that even though it was a radio show and no one could see me through the air waves, Lei had done my hair and makeup.  I was stunning in the booth.  So much so I was asked “who is your stylist?”  Some of you received my email with the announcement so let me tell you that Lei made the flyer and Kaci posted it for me on the blog!  Patty Galloway-Banday-my agent, sister, and promoter, kept me on task throughout the whole adventure.  I am so appreciative to all of you that tuned in!  I could feel your support.

What did I enjoy the most in the experience?  Talking to the listeners and sharing suggestions to help them resolve their problems.  In between the broadcasting the Producer took me out to the phone and had me respond to different callers who could not get on the air.  It felt so good to feel that I was finally doing my “work”.  After the show was over the Producer mentioned to Les Brown that this was a good show and that he wanted me to come back.  He called me their parenting specialist.  This is all like an out of body experience.  At times I could feel my parents looking over my shoulders saying, “you can do this-you must do this-they need you-step out on faith-we are here.”  I don’t know how all of this will play out but I am ready to step out on faith and be receptive of God’s help to do this “work”!  Please check out the invitation to the Seminar on July 6, 2011 at the Westside Pavilion at the Landmark Theatres Community Room B from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Next posting will include snap shots of the broadcast.

More movement on the horizons! And I will keep you posted!

Love!!

Beth
