Sometimes when we don’t get our way, it’s because God has another way. We are so busy running every aspect of our lives that we don’t come up long enough to catch our breath to see what is available to us. We are so enthralled in the massive chaos and confusion of a world that seems to be upside down and inside out. This time we are living in that is wrapped up in a lot of foolishness and distractions to us living the life we are worthy of and experiencing the fullness of what life was designed to be for each of us. We think we know best and that we can do “us” without taking into consideration that perhaps there is a bigger picture. Most of us are not clairvoyant and can’t see what lies ahead of us. But there is a divine plan for our lives and if we get out of having everything “our way or no way”, we might be surprised as to what God has in store for us. It is exciting to think of the possibility of the element of surprise of looking up and finding that you are taken cared of. Imagine things or people coming into your life that you were not only not expecting, but never dreamed would be happening in your life.
I know it is difficult thinking about letting “Great Spirit” navigate things in our life, but truth beknow, “Great Spirit” has been involved in our lives from the beginning. In our childhood it was not something we thought about or questioned, because it was a natural and organic relationship that had no boundaries or prescribed limitations. It is like “Great Spirit” and a child are one. The seeds of goodness, love, joy, compassion, creativity, free will- determination, and discernment, are embedded in us by “Great Spirit” from the start and then it becomes the responsibility of our earthly parents to nurture those attributes. I think the attributes of free will and determination as well as our gift of discernment, are the tools we use to make decisions in our life. Maybe that is where the struggle comes in as to what and when we should let God navigate the course of our life.
It is difficult to stand on faith to a point that you can “let go and let God”. I can tell you from of the most personal and earth-shattering experiences that have struck my life, that I had to “let go and let God run the course with me and some of the time run the course for me”. It was scary to not have control over things I thought I had control over and to realize that I did not really have control over most of the tings in my life. I began to realize that “Great Spirit” was always at my side trying to support me. I think that as we become adults we slip into the notion that we are totally independent and are flying solo. Nothing could be further from the truth. The essence and Spirit of God does not leave us because we are adults, it is always going to be within us, it is because we forget. As we become adults we should look for a deeper and more profound understanding of our relationship with “God”. Life pulls us away from our knowingness of what lies within us and tricks us into believing that we have limited resources to support our life.
Never forget we are one with the Spirit, and Spirit is one with us.
