Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where we are overwhelmed and beside ourselves. There never seems to be any “Self-Time”! We feel so obligated to attend to other people and other things. We get stuck in the feeling that if we don’t stay put and follow through on what we have got ourselves into or been dragged into-willingly or unwillingly, that everything will fall apart. Well, this could very well be true in some circumstances. Sometimes it’s about being in a relationship that has us stuck. Sometimes it’s about being in a job where we are not only stuck but unhappy. We sometimes are so absorbed in the “Stuff,” that it does not let us breathe. We feel there is no way to get time for ourselves or do anything productive to enhance our own lives and realize our own dreams. This is not the case! What we don’t understand is that we have to look for “The Mean While”- or “In the Time Being”!
What is the “Mean While”? The “Mean While”, is that space that we create for ourselves that we intentionally subscribe to removes the blocks, traps, circumstances, and people that are trying to be in the forefront of our lives and attention. We must assume a new attitude! We have to demonstrate that we come first in our lives and everybody else has to realize that we are in integrity with our word to support them, but that we now have another agenda, and this new agenda has us on the top of the list! This is our new modality of living our life. We no longer put our life, dreams, gifts, and aspirations “on hold”! We find our place in our own lives and the other things in are life that once occupied and distracted us from our own life’s purpose are now in “The Mean While” positions.
We have freed ourselves to be ourselves! And guess what? All those obligations, people, and distractions that we allowed to invade our personal destiny, can only do so if we allow them to. We must take responsibility for empowering our voice and our actions. It is not about being self-consumed, selfish, or egotistical! It is about constructing a balance in our lives that creates the opportunity to do what we need to do in our own life and at the same time make room for supporting others in the “Mean While Space”.
When I started writing this Blog, at first, I thought we were supposed to put our lives in that “Mean While Space” and then Spirit through me a fast ball and told me “no”! Apparently, Great Spirit wants us in the forefront of our lives because that is where we connect. Great Spirit wants our attention. Great Spirit wants us to be in a relationship with Spirit that allows time for the connection and engagement that navigates our life. We can’t ignore the importance and relevance of that relationship. From the beginning of our life’s journey Great Spirit was in the thick of our lives! We cannot afford to be dismissive about giving this relationship our full attention. When Spirit calls you, we don’t have a choice but to answer! You will feel Spirit in the beat of our heart. We will see Spirit in your dreams! You will hear the “Still small voice” of “Great Spirit” as Spirit whispers in your ear. Create your space! Fill your cup first.
