Tiny Tips for Moms and Dads #41 Supporting Your Child’s Curiosity and Discovery of the Wonders of the World-

Age-appropriate exposure to events, places, culture, and travel is important in the development of a child’s cognitive and emotional development.

Where do I begin?  It is such an important decision on the part of a child’s parents to create and implement a plan on how to best raise their child in this complex every evolving world.  Things in our world are changing at warp speed, and it is really impossible to keep up, so the best we can do is be “in this world” and not “of this world”.  We have to consciously and with great discernment come up with a creative modality on how and what we will expose our children to.  We want them to be global citizens.  We want them to be exposed to the truths of what they encounter on their adventures in exploration. We want them to be confident and eager to express their ideas and perceptions.  We want them to be fearless and yet cautious.  We want them to be hungry to learn and explore not just their environment, but beyond. We want them to have a thirst for life and a hunger for knowledge.  We want them to be encouraged and guided into being self-motivated!  We want to secure a world that is welcoming them to being treated with respect and enthusiasm.

We are the ones in his life that are responsible for opening the door that will spike their curiosity to engage in exploring their world.  We of course have to demonstrate that nature of wanting to be inquisitive and curious if we are to cultivate it in our children.  If we are sedentary and uninterested in venturing out and exploring the world we live in, it will send a message to them that they too can be unaffected and uninterested in looking at the wonders of the world.  We have access to so much information and possibilities of endless experiences, that the world is open for us to take our children on a journey they will never forget.  I realize that for some people this spirit of being outgoing and adventurous is a stretch, but once you have a child, it just seems to call you into being all of who you have the potential of being.

Life is good!  Life is amazing!  Life is challenging, but we always have within us what we need and what our children need from us.
