Tiny Tips for Moms and Dads#89 No More, No More, No More! No More Children Abducted, Lost, or Needing to Run Away! We Must Do Better by Our Children.

We are their protectors!

Every day there are more and more reports of “children missing in action”!  I don’t know what is happening in our world, but this is a global crisis, and we need to do some serious “soul searching” on why our children are not a priority!  We have access to so much in terms of technology that can support manpower, but it is still not enough.  We need communities to be vigilant in taking on this responsibility to safeguard our children.  When I was growing up a hundred years ago, we could not go anywhere or do anything without neighbors intervening and reporting to our parents.  Neighbors helped to support each other; it was called a “community”.  There needs to be a “war on abduction and disappearance of children”.  It needs to be addressed on a global, national, and local level.  Some of the statistics that blow my mind are astounding.

My concern is that we as parents, extended family, teachers, coaches, and law enforcement, for a start, must be more intentional and committed to the safety of and for our children.  We have to teach our children about being vigilant and aware of their surroundings.  We have to instill in them the necessity to be near the people that are safeguarding them.  We can no longer just let our children out on their own, even playing in the front yard of our homes is not safe.  We have to teach our children hand signals and protocol if someone confronts them or tries to assault them in order to kidnap them.  We have to teach them to call on their intuitive discernment and trust their gut when they feel uncomfortable.  We have to be vigilant with where we allow our children to be and experience and with whom we trust them.  Come up with a family code.  Come up with a family protocol.  These are chaotic times that call for unusual tactics to implement to protect our children.  We also have to become serious and vocal advocates to –Speak Up!  Stand Up! And Show Up! -to demand our government to take our children’s wellbeing seriously.
