Well, Patty and I gathered up all the families’ ballots and drove straight to the Post Office.  We were intentional about delivering our ballots directly in the hands of a postal employee at the service desk.  We did not want to take any chances of putting them in a ballot box on a street for fear that something might happen to them.  We took a video for the grandchildren and had them see how a ballot is filled out and what the process of voting is.  We wanted to make sure that they were given the same training our parents gave us about the importance of voting.  We were taught about the sacrifices our ancestors had to pay in order to get to vote.  We were taught to never think that our vote did not count.

I have no idea how this election is going to play out because there is so much hatred being fostered, that I think that it is much safer to deliver your ballot to the post office and hand it over to a clerk.  I am prayerful that violence does not erupt and that it will be a peaceful transition of power.  I pray that people stay calm and collected, and that we will somehow reunite and heal the wounds that have driven us apart.
