When “Spirit” Speaks I “Listen and Do”!

Children are not raised by parents alone

they must be raised in context to being a priority to humanity. 

Ubunta is a sacred value that is culturally deep rooted in the Xhosa culture as well as other Southern African traditions.  It carries a sacred essence that is expressed spiritually, ethically, and communal meaning. Ubunta- “I am because we are”.  Ubunta expresses the belief that a person’s humanity is inseparable from the humanity of others.  Our identity, dignity, and purpose are formed through relationship, not isolation. Ubunta in Xhosa can be summarized as-

“Umnta ngumntu ngabunta”- “A person is a person through other persons”. This is not metaphorical- it is a way of living.  The core values of Ubunta are values that we can identify with and that are important for us to adhere to now more than ever.  We are watching full time, in real time, the destruction of our civilization and our most vulnerable beings- our children- who are trying to hold it together while we seem to stand paralyzed in disbelief and are processing what we need to do to ward off the side effects of this deconstruction of our society. 

What are these core values?  These core values are –

Interdependence

Compassion and Empathy

Human Dignity

Restorative Justice

What does this concept of Interdependence offer us.? It awakens us to the truth that we as exist because the community exists.  Individual well-being is impossible without collective well-being.

What does this concept of compassion and empathy offer us?  It awakens in us the reality that to

harm another is to diminish yourself.  To care for another is to restore the whole.

What does this concept of human dignity offer us?  It instills in us that every person carries intrinsic worth and regardless of age, status, ability, or role.

Why is restorative justice important as a value that we need to be proactive in executing in our humanity?  Restorative Justice is an important value to ascribe to because “Ubuntu prioritizes healing over punishment, reconciliation over retribution.

We have so much to take into consideration in how we are going to deal with this upheaval and chaos that is being perpetuated on the wellbeing of humanity and especially our children who will inherit this planet.  We will have to decide how we can implement these values in reconstructing our lives after the vibrational consciousness moves to a higher plane of existence and we begin to seek truth, find truth, and stand up grounded in “Truth”.  We will have to come to our senses as a collective.  We will have to start with the healing in our families.  We will have to begin to instill these precious values in our children.  We will have to demonstrate these values in our everyday dealings with each other. This has to be a campaign on a global level.  We need to start communities where we can begin to converse on what we want for ourselves, our families, our communities, our country and the world because no matter how we are being systematically isolated we are “Global Citizens” and we are not alone in this “Spiritual Warfare” that would make us believe that we are not a “part of the hold”.  So let the “Work Begin”.
