Mama said,“Stop Complaining and Just Do Something Constructive”!  Day 26-ADC 24

Family is everything to Kamala.

As a single parent who raised a daughter, I can really identify with Kamala’s mother’s journey as a parent.  I know the value of a close and loving family.  I know the life of being in a multi-racial family.  I know the cultural values of her Jamaican lineage having the same connection with her.  We hold our families as the center of our earthly being.  We are sensitive and have an acute awareness of what it takes a family unit to not just survive but what it takes to thrive.  Like all parents, the welfare of our children is our priority.  Kamala watched her mother make the necessary sacrifices to provide a sound and grounded foundation on which she could grow and develop.

She had parents that invested in her, not just in terms of her academic success, but most importantly, the development of her character and ethics as a woman of color.  They knew the road would be rough, and the mountains hard to climb to compete in the professional arena.   They instilled in her the values of their individual cultures and unique family standards of excellence and morality.  Kamala and her sister were grounded in “who they were” and “where they came from”.  My mom taught us that- “if you know who you are, where you came from, and who you belong to (that you have a family that loves you), you will know where you are going in life”. Things become clear and the vision for your “Divine Life’s Purpose” will be revealed.

Everything that has happened in Kamala’s life has not been by chance, but by design.  She has been groomed for her “work” and has the tools necessary to not just walk her course but will be so empowered by her purpose driven life, that she will overcome any and all obstacles that would try to deter her.  This path of hers is so well defined, she will be able to do what is being called of her as a “Agent of Change”.   She has faith in the “knowing “of her divine purpose and divine identity.  Kamala knows she is being guided and nurtured on this path.  As a parent I know how important it is to teach our children to love, honor, and respect themselves so that they will be able to rejoice in who they are and what they have the potential of accomplishing with the endowment of gifts they have been entrusted with.
