Setting Boundaries to Help Children Feel a Sense of Safety and Freedom at the Same Time.

Remember-It is not just the responsibility of parents to guide and nurture our children- There has to be a village of extended family, friends, and a community of respectful, ethical, loving, and compassionate people that chose to be part of a child’s life!

What we are really trying to do for and with children, is to guide them into an understanding that they must learn to make choices and decisions that will allow them to explore their world and at the same time keep them and others safe and secure. This period in their early life sets them up for the big challenges that will confront them in puberty and young adulthood and then impact all the decisional actions they make throughout their adult lives. 

 There is so much trial and error involved in this arena of learning. So much of what must transpire between parents and their children is founded on their style(s) of communication with each of their children.  There will inevitably be different styles of communication to meet the unique character of each of your children.

There has to be continuity in the boundaries and expected behavior, but how that is interpreted and communicated will vary. In other words-what works with my child X, will not in this instance work with my child Y.  It takes a lot of observation and forethought on designing how you are going to help guide your child into understanding the “No” Why? Because” of in life.

It is not realistic for a child to think that the word “No” does not apply to them under certain circumstances.  The important part of saying “No” to a child is to follow up with the “Why… and “Because…” so that we give them an understanding that there are reasons we make certain decisions. 

We want to encourage the curious minds that they were born with.  It is important to never kill that genius or invalidate the things they encounter and try out stemming from their curiosity and sense of exploration.  We are to guide them through this element of their development that will set the stage of how and why they make decisions throughout their life. We want them to be free within the boundaries that nature sets for them.

I believe in telling children about consequences and allowing the time and space to explore how consequences can affect their well-being, and the well-being of others.  Learning that our actions and decisions can have an impact on not just “me, myself and I”.  This also sets the stage for exploring how we are inner connected to one another.  They begin to become part of humanity.  They don’t understand what it means but there is a feeling that begins to grow and we must feed it with experiences where we call it to their attention.  

We want to guide them to the understanding that there is responsibility connected to freedom of expression. It is a long journey into this perspective on life, but what it affords not just the individual, but our humanity as a whole is priceless! It is what sustains, enriches, and fortifies our highest selves.

Our Motto- as a parent and givers of care and guidance to a child- I want to “Let Freedom Ring”- Within the understanding that ” There are consequences for my decisions”!

So, breathe deeply! Close your eyes and visualize something that brings you back into homeostasis with your soul expression.  May today bring you a sense of peace, joy, and moments of feeling loved and validated for who you are and what you are gifting humanity.

The Amazing -One Heart-Beat- Part 3

The Amazing -One Heart-Beat- Part 3

As our children evolve into more of the “Soul Spirit” that they were destined to express, we become as their parents more of who we are to be in their lives and more of who we are to be in our own lives! It is magical! It is a Spiritual Evolution!

This is the third part of my stream of consciousness. I contemplated on what transpires next in this evolving relationship between our beloved children and ourselves. You see, it might change in texture and in context to the many things that captivate their attention and seem to carry them into a world without us.

This is all part of the divine plan. It all happens in stages of our life’s journey. We conceive, we carry them in our womb, we birth them, we deliver them, we care for them through their infancy, we guide them through childhood, we nurture them through puberty, we stand for them through their young adulthood. We are never really completely void of their essence in our lives and our essence will always be a part of their lives.

You see it is my feeling that the “umbilical cord has two separate dimensions. There is the physical form and the spiritual form. As part of the birthing process, the physical umbilical cord is cut. However, the spiritual cord continues to reside in the breath of life that developed in the sacred womb between mother and child. It is the element between mother and child that allows a mother to communicate with their child even when they are not in the same physical space. It is the element that translates their communication between each other. It senses when there is discord or when their child needs them.

 It translates the “looks” – “texture of the sound of their voice that tells mom when something is array. Fathers can develop their own connection with their child that is uniquely theirs, but it takes the investment of time and authentic love. I say authentic love because children have a 6th sense about people and know when they are truthfully themselves.

Children need the love expressions that both parents can offer because they are not the same. Every child will have a different relationship with each of their parents. So, I don’t want fathers to in any way think their love for their child is not essential! I just know that what a mother has experienced with the giving life to a child or taking on the role of a mother is inherently unique. The bottom line is that there will always be a connection between parent and child that is vital and eternal. It is a lifetime commitment.  Can I just add that I asked “Great Spirit” to bless me with a child, and I got just who I was suppose to gift life to.

One Heart-Beat- Postpartum Depression-    From a Spiritual Perspective.

I feel that we have uncovered the pain and darkness that takes hold of a mother and even a father, after the birth of their child.  We have studied and dealt with the causes and effects of the debilitating trauma of Postpartum on them as parents and actually can impact the baby and family unit as a whole.

Today I want to continue my stream of consciousness on another aspect of “One Heart-Beat”.  You see during my moment of experiential reflection with Leilani, I got another revelation, another vision of what is happening on another plane in terms of the spiritual implications of Postpartum. 

When I spoke to the connection and communication between mother and child in the womb, I realized that this connection of being the co-creator of a life that is flesh of your flesh and blood of your blood, is perhaps the deepest love that can exist in the human experience.  As a mother you carry this love in your heart and soul for 9-10 months as solitary partners. When the time comes and you must part from one another and your sacred space, there is pain in releasing this child that you have co-created, nurtured and prayed for. 

Yes, there is physical pain, but there is also spiritual pain. Pain of loss! Pain of the thought that now you are releasing your child to the world.  Thoughts of how you will protect them, and keep them safe rattle you to your core. You can feel at a lost. There are the feelings of loss of control that you had for them in the womb. It is like losing a part of yourself. It is grief in the midst of joy. 

It is courage in the face of fear.  It is harmony in your very being while living in dissonance.  I believe that we first respond to the world and the events and circumstances in our life on a spiritual plane, and then things are manifested on a physical, mental and emotional reality.  We therefore cannot fully understand the depths of this Postpartum trauma.

No one can dictate how you must process the experience and no one can tell you how to feel. We must be present for mothers and families that are in the midst of this out of body experience. We must not intrude but we must be vigilant in being accessible and empathic not sympathetic.

 So, breathe deeply! Close your eyes and visualize something that brings you back into homeostasis with your soul expression.  May today bring you a sense of peace, joy, and moments of feeling loved and validated for who you are and what you are gifting humanity.

One Heart-Beat-Part 1

Sometimes when I fall asleep, I drift back to your sacred womb from where we first met.
I remember it was there I had laid in our time and space when and where it was only you and I dear Mother, that kept me safe and secure from all harm.
Now I rest and snuggle in the warmth of your embrace, to face this world with you by my side.
I am never ever truly alone for I know that the love we share is divinely eternal and rest in the depths of our shared ” One Eternal Loving Heart-Beat”.

One Heart-Beat

Part One

Years ago- almost five years now- I had an amazing experience.  I was sitting with my niece Leilani who was at the time pregnant with her third child- Aoluna, when I got a sensation or revelation of the powerful connection between Lei and A0luna! I don’t know why I had not seen this before. Perhaps it was to be in just this moment. It was like I was watching a conversation between just the two of them that was sacredly private.

Although Lei talked to her verbally all the time, this was a different kind of communication. It was like they were at this point A0luna’s development conjoined.  It was like although there were two hearts beating, in this sacred space there was also a heartbeat that they shared. There was in this private time, between Mother and child, “one heart-beat”. 

It felt like it would be an eternal heartbeat that they would share that connected them differently than any other relationship.  It was that connection where Mother will always know her child’s needs and that internal feeling mothers get when they sense their child needs them or is communicating with them on a highly evolved spiritual vibration. I often wondered why when my child, Nicole calls me on the phone, I know the texture of her ring, although I only have one ring tone. I know sometimes before she calls that she is going to call or text.  I know when she needs for me to check in.

Mothers are so blessed to have this sense or connection with their children.  It is a blessing that no matter what occurs in life, there will always be this eternal connection. We as mothers have a responsibility to this blessing!  We must acknowledge it and respond to it.  It is not by chance-it is by divine design. I feel so blessed to have seen this miracle! It was a gift!

There will be more to this revelation forth coming!!

So, breathe deeply! Close your eyes and visualize something that brings you back into homeostasis with your soul expression.  I know now that no matter what the circumstances of our life and our birth, something transpires between mother and child at some point when we are anchored in our mother’s womb, that there is a soul heartbeat that is eternal and sacred.  That conjoining of the heart has nothing to do with the physical world, but everything to do with the world beyond the veil.  May today bring you a sense of peace, joy, and moments of feeling loved and validated for who you are and what you are gifting humanity.

Don’t Let Anyone Rain on Your Parade- and

Don’t Let Anyone Cast Shadows on Your Sunlight!

This is a mantra that I instilled in my daughter from her first day entering preschool!

It is important for us to fortify our children with the emotional tools to face challenges in their lives.
It starts at infancy and is always just a breath away when needed. It’s more of that “Soul Connection”! My cup overflows with love!

Even to this day it is something I say to her and we repeat it together when I know she is about to face challenges and obstacles in her day. I have used it with my nephew and nieces. It is a family tradition as I impart these little words of wisdom to the grand children in the family. 

When this was given to me by Spirit, it really resonated with me because I could actually visualize what I was saying. I could see myself going about my day full of excitement and joy, and then all of a sudden find myself in a defensive mode because someone or something was trying to take my happiness from me and drag me into their pain.

You see I figured out that when people inflict discord and pain on other people it is because they themselves are living in a pain body.  It is important for us to understand it is not really personal!  It is really a “I am miserable and I will feel better if you are miserable too”! You know the old saying that- “Misery loves company”? It is without a doubt true to that part of our human design that is a flaw. 

If we don’t understand what is behind the attack, then we allow them to “rain on our parade of joy, self-worth, and self-love.  We can begin to doubt that we are in fact worthy of appreciation and respect. There has to be a space that we go into to evaluate the situation.! We have to be able to “consider the source” that is trying to draw us in and cause havoc on our peace and contentment.

I read this little saying today on Facebook posted by Fearless Soul”- boy that is really aligning the messages- it said, “ I am never in control of what happens around me, but I am always in control of what happens within me”.  Our lives are a constant parade of experiences on this journey we call life.

There will be highs and lows but there is also the possibility of colorful rainbows that emerge after the rain.  We have to hold on to that “knowing”!

We can’t allow anyone to cast shadows on the sunlight that radiates from our soul! We don’t stand in the shadow of someone that might attempt to overcast their shadow being on the light that reflects the power of spirit that lies within each of us. March throughout your life’s parade with grace, joy, confidence, love and gratitude for what you have been bless with and what you have been blessed to share. Be busy being you!

Be busy embracing all of life’s experiences, knowing that we are always being prepared for even greater things. There is always more truth and knowledge to experience.  There is always more “Joy in the breaking of a new day, every day! As my sister Patty says- “I am Joyful and Joyfilled!”

Our cups overflow with all of what life has to offer. We chose what we want to drink from that cup!

Happy Father’s Day Blessing!

Happy Father’s Day Blessing!

Children will always need their Father’s helping hands!

On this the day we have chosen to celebrate the Fathers and those that have stepped up to be Fathers, may God bless you and keep you in His love and compassion. It is a big charge to step into Fatherhood, and it is a gift that when you receive this position or stand up to take on this position, that you begin to understand that you are blessed.

It is a responsibility that will present you with experiences that will touch your heart and soul. It will pose challenges to your intellect and also give you lessons in patience and unconditional love. The connection is eternal and is a life time commitment, but the rewards that it can offer outweighs the investment. Your strength of character, your values and morals will impact your children’s lives, so take care that you always think of them first.

What does a child look for you in?

Do they see you as a giant that can conquer the world for them?

Do they see you as the one they can trust with all that’s in their heart?

Do they see you as the helping hand that will catch them if they fall?

Do they see you as the wisest man that knows right from wrong?

Do they see you as the man that can whisper “I love you my child”?

Do they see you in a state of joy when they are being their authentic selves, knowing that you love them for who they are?

Do they realize that you belong to them no matter what befall, because you are their “Daddy”, and they have captured the strings of your heart and the essence of your soul?

May all the Father’s that have taken this charge from this world to the world beyond, know that your children love you and will honor you as their “Father” -and see imprints of you that will last into the forever-truth be told.

The Lens of Their Life’s Perspective Comes From Their Interpretation- Not Ours!

There is Nothing Like Playing in the Rain!

Life’s journey, from a child’s perspective is their truth.

We learn as mothers and fathers that we must realize that no matter what we do in parenting, our children’s perspective, comprehension and interpretation of their early life and unfortunately sometimes adult experiences, are dealt with from a child’s maturity emotionally and spiritually and therefore can be limited and restrictive.  It can hamper their ability to evolve and grow into the completeness of their divinity.  This is why the development of their spirituality is critical.

We don’t want them living life in their pain bodies because it is all they see through the “window” from which they live and experience the nuances of their life. It does not serve them well. They have to know they have our support in helping them to do the “work” to be free.   They are worthy of truly loving themselves because from God’s perspective they are whole and complete.  

We must continue to pray and work for this enlightenment and transformation that can support the quality of our children’s lives. We must always be mindful of what our children are exposed to and if they ask puzzling questions, we must be there to help them process.  In a collaborative relationship we work with our children to provide tools by which they can utilize to effectively deal with and overcome any obstacles that might hinder their ability to be whole, healthy and happy human beings.  

There is no one set of tools that are appropriate for all children.  It takes parents really knowing the essence of who their child is to discern what tools they can offer their child. It’s not about “coping skills”, it’s about helping children know themselves to the point that they can navigate life with a new lens when they look through the “View from their window”.

I know we all from time to time have conversations about other people’s lives and our expectations for what we wish and hope for them in their life’s journey. We must however realize that ultimately each person is taking this walk on their journey in their divine purpose and contract with God. What unfolds in our spirit and personage is amazing growth. We are called to love and support each person in our circle of influence and care, because that is what is to be part of the “whole”.

We must never hold on to each other’s challenges and life experiences in judgment.  We are being used to guide and support, knowing that “God is not through with any of us yet. I pray that others will let God do His work with us, in us and, through us. When we engage with one another without passing judgment but giving grace, Love, and patience, we fulfill our purpose for being connected to each other. No two paths are the same. No path is better than another. Each path is a walk with God who ultimately is in charge.

We each unfold at our appointed timeline and become and reveal our destiny call!

We can’t have faith in God and His intimate relationship in our lives and take it upon ourselves to question the course of some else’s life.

We honor, respect and acknowledge that we love the people in our life and want the best for them. Being in relationship with someone calls us to take the time to share their concerns and for us to have the same opportunity. 

We must all have a safe place to be ourselves, and to allow others as well to have a safe place, to grow through life’s experiences. I have faith that God is navigating our lives and that we are fulfilling the desires of His heart for us so that ultimately this life journey will be beautiful and fulfilling. God gathered us together to be instruments of his love, grace and mercy to and for the world, but first these attributes must be tested and practiced within and among our own family and friends.

I saw my parents stand for us during the most difficult periods of our coming to be our divine selves. They spoke their minds through their hearts. It was never about them it was always giving us time to express and explore and yes sometimes fail, but we knew that they would love us though our quest to find ourselves. For each child it looked different because we were each different.

I don’t expect everyone to understand, but after so many years of living, my eyes are wide open to see beyond what is on this physical plain. I read hearts and souls. We can never let our family become victimized by the world that wants us to be torn apart. We must fight like hell to protect each other and our family as an eternal unit. We have traveled together for many lifetimes and will for many to come. This is the most important job we have.

There are times that God has to heal relationships in our family and with those that we proclaim to be our friends, so we can live life in a space of harmony and wellbeing.  But we must be open and available to Him!

Please reach out to each other because we owe that first to God and then to each other! As parents we need to stand for them and with each other for that is the only way you can survive and thrive in this world. You all need each other!

So, breathe deeply! Close your eyes and visualize something that brings you back into homeostasis with your soul expression.  May today bring you a sense of peace, joy, and moments of feeling loved and validated for who you are and what you are gifting humanity.

As a “Global Community” we need to foster positivity and lessons of how to cultivate good self-esteem in our children so that they are in alignment with humility and compassion.  This is a practice that we never outgrow.  Ashé!
